Nomar, Brian Giles hang it up

By: Idiot Kicker

Nomar retired yesterday after signing a one day minor league deal with the Red Sox. It's too bad Nomar was injured so much and easily at the end of his career otherwise he would be a HOF player. He played and was on the DL for the Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers and A's.

Brian Giles is the Pirates all-time leader in SLG with .591. He is retiring due arthritis in his right knee. He played in the 1997 World Series with the Cleveland Indians.

Nomar and Giles join Frank Thomas and Randy Johnson, among others, who have retired following the 2009 season.
