Milton Bradley by Topps

By: Guido

Apparently Topps thought it would be a good idea to commemorate all the funsies that Milton Bradley brought to Chicago last season. This is a 2010 Topps Baseball Series 1 Milton Bradley autographed Peak Performance card.

The front reads, "Cubs August marked by Bradley barrage". The back states, "Four of Bradley's games of three or more hits for the 2009 Cubs came in August, when he caught fire. He posted four-hit performances against the Rockies and Nationals, and logged three in back-to-back affairs against the Mets. Between the 5th and 30th of the month, the switch-hitting right fielder swatted .388 with three home runs and a .985 OPS".

Why did they choose Milton to be in this set? August was the only good month he had and I think most baseball fans knew that Milton wasn't going to be around after October. I find it strange that he would even take time out from finger pointing to sign however many they made. Of all the Cubs players from last season, Topps picks Milton Bradley...I'm pretty confident that this is the only set that will contain a Bradley auto in a Cubs uniform, so that does make the card somewhat special. and I have one. Only cost $4.74 on eBay, which included two other peak performance autos of Franklin Morales and Daniel Schlereth.
